Welcome to PsycInequality!

Welcome to psycinequality, a running blog which seeks to capture the experiences of both students and faculty participating in an integrated, summer study abroad experience at Webster University’s campus in Athens, Greece. The theme of our experience is "Global Health and Inequality."

The purpose of this blog is not to re-hash the literature on health or inequality. Numerous other, well-developed resources for examining such topics already exist. Instead, what I hope to do with this blog is provide students a space to share their experiences as we study this important topic. My students and I will explore the existing literature on the psychology of inequality. In doing so, we will consider many of the questions raised by leading scholars in the field whose work has helped us better understand the causes and consequences of inequality.

Further, because this is a short-term study abroad experience, we will work to compare research findings on inequality and related concepts between the United States and other countries, particularly Greece. As we cover specific topics, different students will prepare posts for the blog. We will use this space to synthesize what we are learning about in the classroom with what we have experienced and/or have experienced in our respective lives.

We appreciate the support of Webster University and have each benefited from the institution’s commitment to providing high-quality learning experiences that transform students for global citizenship and individual excellence. We are particularly grateful for Webster’s commitment to the high-impact educational practices of study abroad and mentored student research.

Please join us as we explore this important topic! Discussion is welcome and encouraged.
